About the Artist
I have been drawing for as long as I can remember, and have wanted to be an artist since the age of ten. Growing up in the Pacific Northwest, I learned an appreciation for nature and animals early, and they remain a favorite subject to this day.

In high school, I completed a wide variety of art courses including an independent study which culminated in a show of my work. I attended the University of Washington art school in Seattle, focusing mainly on drawing, painting and printmaking and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1998. I currently live in the Los Angeles area, and no, I don't prefer the weather there.

In 2002, I joined the team of artists at Neopets.com, providing illustrations for the site as well as the trading card game and other merchandise. I am thrilled to have my work seen by so many people on a daily basis!

I also maintains a comic strip about my day-to-day life, A Fierce Bad Rabbit.

My long-term goal is to illustrate children's books, and I am seeking an author to work with toward this goal.

In addition to drawing, I also enjoy Broadway musicals, gaming, hiking, horseback riding, sewing plush animals, spending time with my dog, and collecting rabbits.

What does "Auryanne" mean?

Auryanne is the name of my first role-playing character, way back in high school. She was a wizard who was able to turn into a dragon. When I signed up for my first email address, all of the names I could think of were taken, so I used Auryanne. Most people online know me as Auryanne, so it made sense to choose it as my domain name.
